Embrace Weekend

embrace weekend fall 2017You’re a busy mom.

One who is living life to the fullest and making amazing memories with your family.

You take tons of photos to preserve all the moments that are passing by so fast.

But life is so full and wonderful that finding the time to print those memories is few and far between.

You tell yourself that you’ll make time to organize, select, and print your photos tomorrow. But here you are with kids that are growing up before your very eyes with very few tangible memories.

Let’s make 2017 the year you actually commit to your photo preservation. This Fall I’m bringing together a group of dedicated moms LIVE and IN PERSON as we spend time combing through your digital photo archives, TOGETHER.

embrace-weekend-dividerberyl ayn youngThe Embrace Weekend is a 1 night, 2 day workshop in Chantilly, VA where you’re going to get away from day-to day-life, connect with other moms, and finally make the time, space, & commitment to printing your photos.embrace-weekend-divider

There’s nothing quite like getting away from the day to day responsibilities of motherhood and life to connect with like minded souls who value family, photography, and memory making like you do.

This workshop will be a balance of structured classes with scheduled work time after you learn. You’ll gain skills that will not only support you in organizing your photos but in organizing you life too.

Think of this weekend as a gift of space: space to connect, space to unwind, space to reflect, space to learn, and space to process and do the work you’ve been struggling to find time, motivation, and method to complete.

While sorting, organizing, and selecting photos for a photo book project all weekend long – you’ll also gain a new group of friends, new skills to support the creative hobby you love, a deeper appreciation for all you do as a mom and woman, and a sense of accomplishment for the memories you’re making with your family.

The goal?

To have you leaving our weekend together not only with a system and structure in place for organizing and managing your photos archives, but also completing and ordering at least one photo project that been sitting on your to do list for way too long.

This weekend will be time to ask Beryl anything — about your photography, about your dreams, about your goals, about your projects. Think of it as a small group weekend roundtable mentoring session.

Plus this will be the perfect opportunity to gift yourself a ‘girls night out’, celebrate a weekend devoted to YOU, and enjoy time with new friends.

It’s highly encouraged you stay overnight at the hotel to make the most of your experience.

Part of this weekend is about having time and space fully for you and your goals. The hotel stay is not included in the ticket price but there is a block of rooms available at the Hyatt Place hotel for $79 for the night. You can always encourage a friend to sign up with you and split the room cost.

schedule

Your weekend will begin Saturday morning at 9am and will wrap up on Sunday afternoon at 3pm.

However, in the two weeks leading up to workshop you will receive some ‘pre-work’ that will help you come for the weekend with the right tools, the right mindset, and the right project to focus on for our weekend together.

A detailed schedule is still being tweaked and revised but here are some of the topics that will be covered during the weekend:

  • Developing a structure and system for photo organization and archival
  • Photo transfer: How to get photos off all the devices and onto the computer
  • Project ideas and inspiration
  • Time management: staying motivated and continue working on photo projects once the weekend is over
  • Getting intentional and anchoring into the WHY you take photos in the first place (including ideas to enhance how you take photos and tell your family story)

There will also be ample time for Q&A, connection and interaction with the other moms, and of course dedicated work time to start (and hopefully finish!) your projects.

This weekend is all about taking some much needed kid-free time to hang out with other moms, get 2 days just for you and your projects, while uncovering new found love and appreciation for your family through your pictures.

Think of how excited you’ll be to leave our weekend with a finished book of memories that will be ordered and scheduled to arrive at your house after our workshop is complete and with new friends who will support you in your projects in the future.

Plus imagine how awesome it will feel to sit down with your family when you get home and relive your precious memories, together.

Will this workshop help me improve my photos at all?

The focus for this weekend will be on the printing process. However there will be several breaks and time for Q&A so if you have specific camera questions you will have the time to ask them during the weekend.

I can’t make a weekend this Fall. Will you be doing this again?

Right now this is the only Embrace Weekend workshop planned. If you’d like to be notified if another one is planned in the future email me HERE, or pop your name on our interest list below.

What kind of photos should I bring to work on for the weekend?

That’s up to you! I imagine we’ll have moms with all types of cameras and photos here for the weekend. Perfect pictures are printed pictures and you’re encouraged to work on any type of photo project whether it be photos from your phone, point and shoot, or DSLR.

How many photos should I bring?

If you can keep your photos to 1 year of images (no more than 3,000 photos) that’s probably best. Instead of thinking of how many photos, I would start by thinking about the project you’d like to work on. This may not be the time to start and finish a year book of photos (but if that’s how you’d like to use the time and space you certainly can!), I would probably recommend you start with a specific vacation or theme for a weekend project.

I don’t have a laptop, can I still come?

We will not be able to provide computers to work with, so you will need to have a way to transport your photos and computer to the event. However, if you prefer to work on a book offline with prints you bring from home OR if you would like to scrapbook instead that would be 100% ok and encouraged.

What is included in the ticket price?

A regular ticket includes participation in both workshop days, 6+ hours of dedicated work and Q&A time, 4 sessions of information, tips, and inspiration to give you structure and motivation to move forward with your photo projects, and gifts, light breakfast and lunch both days (dinner Saturday night is on your own and not included), and other gifts, goodies, and surprises!

Can I attend for one day only?

We don’t offer one-day tickets. The Embrace Weekend is not only about taking workshops but also about building community and habits. Making lasting connections and change is challenging to do in one day. We want attendees to take advantage of everything the Embrace Weekend has to offer. However with that being said if you decide to purchase a ticket and need to leave a tad early on Sunday we totally understand.

Do I have to stay at the hotel?

You do not have to stay at the hotel, and I imagine some of you may want to commute to and from the event – but it’s highly encouraged you stay overnight at the hotel to make the most of your experience. The hotel stay is not included in the ticket price but we do have a block of rooms available for $79 for the night. Encourage a friend to sign up for the weekend with you and split the room cost or reach out to Beryl directly if you’d like to be paired with another attendee to stay on site!

Hotel stay and photo book fees are NOT included in either ticket price.

Oh no, something came up and I can’t make it! Can I get a refund?

We do not accept cancellations or refunds for the Embrace Weekend. If you find out you can’t make it, you can sell your ticket to someone else if you’d like. Once you sell your ticket please email us at beryl@berylaynyoung.com with the name and email address of the person who bought it.
